Script
Within my opening they will be no dialogue as my character is alone to highlight how she enjoys isolation also it adds mystery to her character. Only music will be played rather then speech which is common for a film opening.
For my film opening they was originally a scene which involved the antagonist and protagonist together. This scene shows the triggering of the actions by the antagonist however I did not want to revel much to the audience as I wanted to unravel answers further on in my film so this scene was cut.
Street Scene-Day
Sarah and her friends are gossiping. Long shot of them walking down the street with Scarlett following then it go's to a median shot as they begin to speak.
Friend 1
(Turns to Sarah)
I bet your excited to work with Scarlett on your course work.(In a sarcastic tone)Such a talkative person.
(Looks and giggles as friends)
Friend 2
She's really scares me. How is it possible to be so quiet?
(Pulls disgusted face)
Sarah
I guess she's just shy. Its sad when I see her in the dinning hall; no one sits with her.
Friend 2
Well if she spoke she might get some friends.
Friend 1
Not many people want to be friends with a freak.(Looks directly to Sarah)Have you ever noticed the way she stares at you so weird, She may even have a crush on you.
Friend 2
Wouldn't put it passed her with the clothes she wears.
(All laugh)
Sarah
Come on guys imagine if she could hear the things you were saying. She has done nothing wrong to you. Lets drop it and worry about what were wearing tomorrow.
(Go on to speak about the party)
Scarlett appears into shot with anger and hurt on her face as she heard all of the mean things the girls were saying.Through this scene she hides behind her hoodie so the girls are unaware of who she is.
The script is very important as is revels to the audience the nature of all the characters. Sarah's friends are represented as cruel and mean this was my intension as it highlights the good nature of Sarah. This is a use of binary opposites to enhance the appeal of the audience to Sarah. Sarah is represented as a kind and caring character to show her vulnerabilities to Scarlett. By making Scarlett a likeable person the audience can grow an attachment to the character enhancing there investment in the characters future. Scarlett is also represented as vulnerable this is unconventional for villain characters however I want my audience to sympathise with her.
